And spring does turn to summer... maybe.

Well, the weather is starting to decide that maybe it is time to warm up and act a little more "summer like", and all I can say is YAY! I really don't like the super hot temperatures of late summer, but I could really use some sunshine and a little less rain, however the garden is loving the cool, wet spring.

As spring was in full force we had quite a bit of rain and quite a few cold icky days. So, what do you do when the weather is too icky to be outside?? Pull up some movies on the lap top and start crafting and sewing! This particular day I was sewing with my fabulous granny smith green and white polka dot fabric and our kitty decided that she wanted to help...

 One fun thing as spring turns to summer is all the fantastic weather! Being married to a self proclaimed "weather geek" means we have had our share of awesome storm watching opportunities. The sunsets are my personal favorite, you just can't beat some of those colors.

 Also this Spring I tried my hand at my first batch of homemade strawberry freezer jam (all by myself)! The strawberries were on a killer deal at the local produce market and I decided I needed a whole flat and then some :) I spent the rest of the afternoon playing in sticky strawberry goodness!YUM!

 Because of the crazy snow pack we had this winter and the cool, wet spring we have had some VERY full rivers, streams, and reservoirs. This is the "Rooster Tail" at Lucky Peak Dam. We drove up one Sunday to witness the fun water show. There is a bunch of water being funneled through a little "door" in the dam, it is about a 4 foot rectangle (if I am remembering right). It was pretty impressive to see all that water being shot through such a small space.

 With the warmer temperatures Jack has rediscovered his love for playing in the sun outside! He frequently spends the warmer part of the day basking on the brick patio, hunting for sticks in the yard, or protecting us from the evil birds that want to enjoy our yard too. :) (Remember the scene in Lion King where Timon and Pumba go bowling for buzzards? Jack bowls for robins and sparrows). This is a frequent image in our house now that we expend so much energy outside, total wipeout on the back of the couch. Such a sleepy little guy.

 The past few years we have enjoyed the Field of Honor the City of Eagle puts together at Merrill Park. There are hundreds of flags laid out in a perfect grid, most of them have a yellow tag bearing the name of someone currently serving or who has served our country. The park is transformed into a peaceful and almost reverent sea of red, white and blue.It is just a small glimpse at the number of men and women who fight for the freedoms we often take for granted. I am so grateful for my Grandfather, Father in Law, Brother, and brothers in law, as well as many friends and others who serve our country.

 We recently spent about a week in the mountains of Utah for a family reunion with my mom's side of the family, there were quite a few of us all piled into a beautiful lodge/cabin. We enjoyed the time spent together playing, singing, and learning new things. Each of the kids were able to spend a little time each day with other kids their own age and counselors while the adults did other things. It gave us all time to enjoy all the sights and events. Only a few were brave enough to jump in the pool, even though it was heated, at over 7000 feet in the beginning of June it is still pretty darn cold! :) It was so fun to play with the kids, in this picture we were hunting for bugs (I'm not usually a bug person but rolley polley bugs are usually fun and harmless, lucky for me we didn't find any spiders or other such icky things).

 Being "childless" this trip gave Aaron and I a fun opportunity to help out with the younger cousins and enjoy some time on our own. I often found myself daydreaming about the "what-ifs" and would be pulled back into reality by a cousin asking us to play. What a blessing it is to have such a wonderful, supportive and loving family! Thanks to all of those who traveled to the beautiful mountains to spend time together. This picture was at the end of the week, this is a view we had from the front of our cabin each day, yes there was still plenty of snow on the mountain, only a few piles were actually in camp and the cousins were quick to help spread that out ;). Just a little cold, and a little sunburned, and a bunch of wonderful memories!

Well, that brings us up to date... Stay tuned for a bunch of exciting summer activities (hopefully work schedules will cooperate a little better this summer). We are excited to head for the hills at least a few times and hopefully become better fly fishermen, and we can always hope to hear from a birth mom about an opportunity for our little family to grow :)
