October

Hello Fall! We are loving the weather and looking forward to all the crunchy leaves. Thatcher loves walking through the leaves when we are out and about. For Halloween Thatcher dressed as Batman, mommy was Super Woman. This was the first time Thatcher has really been interested in a holiday- mostly because he loves suckers and we found a few out trick or treating with the neighbors. The night before Halloween (Halloween Eve?) we went to a new little community shopping/event place that has been in progress about a mile from our house the past few years. They were advertising a trunk or treat and other festivities. We got there not too long after it started and I think the whole valley was crammed into the block. I heard a few people as they were walking out (with up set kids and no candy) that they had been waiting in line for over and hour! I decided that Thatcher didn't really need candy so we just squished ourselves through the crowd and watched the water show and wiggled to the music on the stage for all of twenty minutes before we were about frozen. I promised Thatcher a treat so we hopped in the car and went to Krispy Kreme instead. He loved it! His own donut and chocolate milk with a crazy straw. Yum!

Batman never leaves the batcave without his trusty sidekick Walter the blanky bear ;) or his secret weapon- a binky (more like moms secret weapon)

Thatcher is getting to be quite a mommy's helper. He loves to help in the kitchen, if I start on something in the kitchen he will run over to the table and try to drag a chair to the kitchen "see! see!" He also begs for chocolate chips and tastes of whatever we are making.

Uncle Justin worked at Linder Farms again this fall and we had a blast going with him to check out the pumpkin patch. They also had a straw bale maze, a corn box (imagine a sand box filled with corn kernels), and a petting zoo. We also rode a tractor/hay ride out to the pumpkins. Thatcher loved everything! We played in the corn until some big kids got too rowdy, then we went through the maze, then visited all kinds of animals. Thatcher is just starting to learn animal sounds/names so it was fun to actually see them in person. He sat down and pet every single goat and lamb (maybe a dozen or so) and was a bit leery of the chickens. We also saw a very sleepy piglet, bunnies, kittens, horses, large goats, and ducks.

We picked out quite a few pumpkins and were glad to have extra adults with us to watch Thatcher in the patch and help carry pumpkins back to the tractor. Thatcher picked out his own little pumpkin and carried it most of the way.

This pumpkins were just the right size for a seat- Thatcher tried out a few while we were wandering around.

One of our October projects was finally building some storage shelves in the garage. This one set of shelves holds more than our old shelves and we were able to drag some camping gear and holiday decor out of the house into the garage giving us some breathing room! Yay for extra storage and organization!!
